VPH2026 brings together 650 experts in Milan to advance in silico medicine

Hosted in Milan from 1 to 4 September 2026, the conference marked a new milestone for the VPH community, with participation increasing by more than one-third compared with previous editions. Researchers, clinicians, students, early-career scientists and experts from a wide range of disciplines gathered to discuss the latest developments of the field and exchange ideas on the future of in silico medicine, contributing to make it a very memorable event.

The conference brought together different generations of researchers, from established scientists who have shaped the field over the years to early-career researchers and students who are helping to shape its future. Having these different perspectives in the same room created opportunities to exchange ideas, share experience and build connections across generations.

“VPH2026 really demonstrated the diversity, depth and maturity of our community,” said Prof. Liesbet Geris, VPH Director. “We had contributions from digital twin developers, clinicians, social scientists, ethicists, legal scholars and more. And even though we grew our number of participants by over one-third, it still felt like one big family meeting. Thank you, everyone, for making VPH2026 a celebration of in silico medicine.”

The success of VPH2026 was made possible by the dedication of the organisers, volunteers and partners who worked behind the scenes to deliver the event. The VPH community extends its thanks to Prof. Francesco Migliavacca and the organising committee including Giulia Luraghi, José Félix Rodriguez, Tomaso Villa, Sara Bridio and Thierry Marchal, as well as all the volunteers and contributors whose time and effort helped make the conference possible. The events also benefited from the consolidated support of Codan Consulting, building on their collaboration with the VPH community over previous events.

With record participation and a strong sense of community,  the VPH2026 conference provided an opportunity to reflect on the progress of in silico medicine while looking ahead to the challenges and opportunities still to come. As the community continues to grow, the connections and collaborations established in Milan will help shape the next phase of research and innovation in the field!
