VPH at the dealiiX Digital Twins Research School
VPH participated in the Research School on Digital Twins of the Human Body in Trieste, supporting the dissemination of advanced modelling, simulation, and high-performance computing approaches that underpin next-generation digital twins in healthcare.
The Research School Digital Twins of the Human Body brought together dealii-X researchers, developers, and early-career scientists for two dense and inspiring days at SISSA. The programme showcased cutting-edge work in biomedical modelling, high-performance computing, and numerical methods, with hands-on sessions that translated theory into practice and highlighted the power of digital twins for future healthcare applications.
For VPH, partner of dealiiX for communication and dissemination, events like this are not only about excellent science. They aim to make science visible, understandable, and reusable beyond the room where it occurs.
The Research School illustrated the strength of the dealiiX community: experts from numerical analysis, HPC, and biomedical sciences working side by side, sharing tools, methods, and perspectives. From mechanobiology and lung modelling to extreme-scale algorithms and cardiac simulations, the breadth of expertise on display reflects the ambition of dealiiX to push digital twin technologies toward exascale readiness.
Yet the impact of such work depends on more than technical excellence. Training activities, open exchanges, and clear storytelling are essential to ensure that results travel beyond individual projects, reaching other researchers, innovators, policymakers, and ultimately the wider in silico medicine ecosystem.
This is where communication and dissemination play a crucial role. By documenting events, amplifying key messages, and connecting communities, we help transform project results into shared knowledge. Research schools like the one in Trieste are fertile ground for this process: they nurture skills, build networks, and create narratives that show why advanced simulation matters for healthcare.
As dealiiX continues to develop next-generation digital twin technologies, VPH remains committed to supporting these efforts by bridging science and society, ensuring that the outcomes of EU-funded research are not only achieved, but also seen, understood, and taken forward by the broader community.
