Horizon Europe 2026-2027 Work Programme published
The European Commission has published the Horizon Europe Work Programme for 2026 and 2027, setting out the next wave of research and innovation funding under the EU’s flagship programme. The overall programme allocates €14 billion to strategic research and innovation priorities across multiple clusters, including health, digital, industry, climate and more.
Within Cluster 1 “Health”, several calls address key scientific challenges and emerging technologies. Among them, topics linked to Virtual Human Twins (VHTs) — advanced in-silico computational models representing human health and disease — feature prominently. These digital twin approaches aim to support integrated clinical decision support, personalised prevention, improved diagnostics, and tailored health solutions.

In addition, health topics such as predictive biomarkers using AI, personalised approaches to reduce risks from adverse drug reactions, and other digital health solutions are also included in the 2026–2027 calls, offering broad opportunities for the in silico medicine community.
