VPH at the XIV Italian SciComm Conference
At Italy’s leading science communication event, VPH introduced its In Silico Medicine Info Kit, a resource designed to support researchers in engaging more effectively with patients, clinicians, policymakers and society.
From 2 to 5 December, the XIV Italian Science Communication Conference took place at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste, Italy.
The event featured 40 sessions and brought together 120 science communication experts from around the world, including Naomi Oreskes (Harvard University), Bruce Lewenstein (Cornell University), Massimiano Bucchi (University of Trento), and Yurij Castelfranchi (Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais).
During the conference, our science communicator Davide Montesarchio delivered the talk titled “In Silico Medicine Info Kit: A bridge between science and society”, as part of the panel “Beyond dissemination: scientists exchanging with society, languages, and communities”.
His presentation introduced the In Silico Medicine Info Kit, published by VPH on 20 December 2024 on Zenodo. The kit provides guidelines and practical resources for researchers in the in silico medicine community to strengthen their dialogue with key stakeholders, including patients, clinicians, policymakers and society at large.
The initiative was very well received by the science communication community, who highlighted its value in supporting scientists to engage more effectively and responsibly with the society.

As indicated in the document, everyone is welcome to contribute to update the Info Kit with materials, guidelines, and past experiences to keep it a relevant resource for the community in the years to come.
