2025- 2027 Digital Europe calls officially launched

The Digital Europe Programme is the EU’s flagship initiative to accelerate the digital transition by investing in large-scale projects that strengthen Europe’s technological sovereignty. The programme focuses on five core pillars:

• artificial intelligence,
• cybersecurity,
• advanced digital skills,
• deployment of digital capacities and data infrastructures
• widespread adoption of digital technologies across public services and businesses.

A total of just over €204 million will go towards projects aiming to boost the deployment and uptake of key and innovative digital technologies throughout the EU Member States.

The calls in this set opened on 4 November 2025, with a deadline set for 3 March 2026 at 17:00h CET. Among them, of particular relevance for the in silico medicine community, you can check the AI Continent (DIGITAL-2026-AI-09)

The AI Continent initiative supports the development, deployment, and scaling of safe, reliable, and ethical AI, aligned with the EU’s regulatory and innovation priorities. The programme also aims to enhance Europe’s competitiveness by reducing reliance on external technologies and boosting homegrown AI capabilities.

The call offers a total budget of around €60.2 million, distributed across several thematic areas. It is open to cross-border consortia involving companies, research institutions, public authorities, and technology providers.

The DIGITAL-2026-AI-09 call targets a wide range of strategic AI applications, including:

• AI for Health: technologies for medical imaging, oncology, genomics, and secure health data management.

• Generative AI for Public Administrations: tools to modernize government services, improve efficiency, and support decision-making.

• AI for Mobility & Automotive: solutions for connected vehicles, autonomous driving, intelligent transport systems, and smart mobility infrastructure.

• Virtual Testing Environments: large-scale “virtual testbeds” for simulation, research, and AI-driven experimentation in digital twin or virtual world environments.
